What needs to change?

The justice essay is a good assignment. Having the three different paragraphs should stay the same. The third paragraph should be chosen by the teachers. You should have a hat with different topics in at and the students should randomly pick a topic.

Who would read your book?

People who have dealt with troubling pasts and need some inspiration should read this book. They should read it because in the book she has to deal with a lot of hard things and she managed to get her life together.

What do you think it means?

It means that the person is deciding which path to take in life. Whether to go the path a lot of people had taken or to take the path that less people had taken. I think it means making decisions in life. So it means making the less popular choice in life.

The Justice Project

The justice project is going well. Putting all of my information together into the paragraphs was challenging for me. Having two of the paragraphs be specific things from each class was really helpful. What wasn't helpful was having teachers talk about for the whole block. I need more instruction on the last paragraph where we got to pick our own topic.

What is the conflict in your book?

The main character and her mom got into a car accident on the Tappan Zee Bridge. Her mom died and she was severly injured. She is mad at her Dad because he left them when she was a kid, so she went to live with her aunt. At school, she starts hanging out with the wrong people and she starts doing drugs. On Christmas Eve she almost dies from a drug over-dose. A senior boy becomes her friend and he tries to heal her. I think that the boy and her will fall in love, and she won't make up with her Dad.

Do you like the character in your choice book?

I kind of like the main character in my book. I like her because she is just trying to find her place in the world. I don't like her because she does drugs and almost kills herself. I also don't like her because she should know better than to hang out with kids like that. The main character is okay.

Is Koppler getting Justice?

Koppler is not getting justice. He should not be jailed for 20 years just because he brought tarantulas into the United States. The article says that he didn't officially say that he had shipped the spiders, but the Fish and Wildlife Service already knew that he was going to. Also, he has a very good record so he shouldn't be getting so many years in prison. Mr. Koppler is not getting justice.

What would you include in Justice?

My definition of justice is having things be fair. This is important because things like Hammurabi's Code were too harsh. Also every situation is different so if you have one set of laws they might be too intense for the situation. Having things be fair might not make people happy but they can't really complain if things are sorted out equally. Having things be fair is my definition of justice.

Introduction of Essay

Two people's friendship is so strong, that one kills the other to save his life. In the book Of Mice and Men George and Lennie have strong bonds because they depend on each other. George uses Lennie so he won't get fired from jobs. Lennie needs George to talk for him because he isn't very smart. Also George gets Lennie out of trouble. Through all of these things, and them knowing each other for a long time, they have an amazingly strong friendship.

Why did you choose that essay topic?

I chose the second essay topic. I chose it because I wanted to do honors challenge. Also I liked the topic. I like it because they have a really good relationship and I wanted to write about it. I chose number two.

Are George and Lennie best friends?

George and Lennie are best friends. They are best friends because they take care of each other and they will do anything for the other. Also they have known each other for a long time and they have gone around together. Also they love each other like brothers and even though Lennie caused a lot of problems George still stuck with him. They are very good friends.

The ending was sad because Lennie was a good person. It was sad because George and Lennie were really good friends. Also Lennie didn't mean to kill the puppy and Curley's wife, it was an accident. George loved Lennie like a brother so it was sad that he had to kill him. Lennie was a good person so it was sad that he had to die.

Am I a good friend?

I am a good friend because I make my friends laugh. Also I listen to their problems and try to help even if I'm not very good at giving advice. I don't tell their secrets and I care about them a lot.

Is Lennie a burden on George?

Lennie is kind of a burden on George. Since George and Lennie travel together if one of them gets fired both of them leave. Lennie gets in trouble a lot so George ends up leaving jobs. He is not a burden because he can do a lot more work then most people so since George doesn't work as much Lennie makes up for it.

Who is your favorite character we have read about and why?

My favorite character is Slim. He is my favorite character because he has a handle on himself and he is a kind person. Also he is a very hard worker.

Did you like the beginning of the novel?

The beginning of the book was okay. It was okay because all they did was sit at the water. Also it was a little hard to comprehend what they were saying. It was good because it really showed what the two characters are like and what their relationship is. That is why the beginning of the book was good.

What makes a great friend?

A great friend is some one who understands you without even asking you whats wrong. They know all of your secrets and won't tell another person. They are people that would do anything to help you in any circumstance. They know all of your likes and dislikes. And most importantly they love being with you and you love being with them.

Essay Problems

The easiest part will be putting my whole essay together. After I get all of my information it will be easy to just write it. I'm worried about finding three different things to back-up my thesis. I'm also worried about my hook, because it's hard for me to try to say something that will grab the reader but not be able to mention what my essay is about.

Did you like TSB?

TSB was a really good book. It was good because it kind of related to something in my life. It showed all of the lessons that someone in my life is trying to learn and it showed me how much a person can change. Also the characters were really good because they really seemed real. The book was so good it really seemed like something that actually happened. The book was really amazing.

Case of Injustice

The Counterman family lived in a house that had fire history. It was a family of five and both of the parents had low IQ's. The parents were lying in bed when their oldest son woke up the wife to tell them that there was a fire. The wife woke up the husband and he went downstairs and tried to put the fire out with a bucket of water. The smoke drove him outside and he climbed up on the roof to see if he could get in to save his children. Realizing he couldn't he jumped off the roof and broke his heel. The three children died and the wife had 2nd and 3rd degree burns. She couldn't remember anything after she woke her husband up. She said that her husband has been violent and has been saying that he didn't want a family anymore so she thought he started the fire. The husband thought that his eldest child had lit the fire because he has done that before. The court got evidence and they said that the husband was at fault so he got a death sentence. Before he could be killed detectives came in and looked at the evidence. They said that all evidence that showed the husband was innocent was being suppressed and that there was no way he could have lit the fire. I thunk justice wasn't served at first because the judge was hiding evidence that the husband was innocent. Also they didn't look at everything properly they shouldn't have given him a death sentence because it was too severe a punishment. My research method was I looked up cases of injustice and read an article.

Should she face the death penalty?

Teresa Lewis shouldn't have the death penalty. She shouldn't be killed because she was tested and her I.Q. is border-line retarded. Also they said that she was being manipulated by a stronger person. Instead of lying and saying that she didn't kill her husband and her step-son she told the truth and said that she was guilty. The death penalty is not the right punishment for her actions.

How do you deal with anger?

It depends on who is making me angry. Usually I try to keep it inside but I am usually crabby if I try to keep it in. If my little brother is the one who made me mad I usually have an argument with him. Also it depends on how angry I am. If I'm super angry I flip out, but that doesn't happen often. If I'm just a little irritated then I usually don't do anything.

Do you think Cole's second attempt on the island will be successful?

I think it will because he changed a little bit on the island before he left. Also I think he is smart enough to not mess with the bear again.

Should Maine change the legal age to drive 18?

No, because kids wouldn't be able to drive themselves around. It should be 16 because the schools will have less kids on buses.

What is your favorite rainy day activity and why?

My favorite thing to do on rainy days is to curl up on the couch, read and drink tea with a lot of honey. I like to do this because on rainy days I get really sleepy and cold. It is one of my absolute favorite things to do.

School Vandalism

I think the 17 year-old should go to Circe Justice. They should have to see what it is like to get their home vandalized so they realize the effects of what they did. After that they should have to pay for some of the damage.

How can I be a better citizen at SPHS?

I can be a better citizen by listening to my teachers, helping out in school and do fundraisers. Doing these things I think I can be a better citizen at SPHS.

What is Justice? 2

I think justice is the balance between everybody. If a person gives their friend a present they should get a thank you note in return. If a person kills another person they should get punished for their actions, regardless of age. So I think it is a balance.

What is Justice?

I think justice is what super heroes do. An example would be when Flash brings Captain Cold to jail. I don't really know how to describe it.

School Uniform

I do not think SPHS students should wear uniforms. I think this because they should have individuality. Also if we had to wear uniforms nobody would be able to tell anyone apart. If we had uniforms it would cost money to have them made. That is why SPHS students shouldn't have to wear uniforms.
